Hard to Cope

My husband had a blood clot in January, this led to a diagnosis of prostate cancer which has spread to the bones. As if this wasn't hard enough to deal with he went into hospital for a kidney blockage problem and while in hospital suffered a stroke. He has been sent home earlier than he would normally be because they need to the beds/staff for corona virus which I understand but it feels like we have been abandoned, particularly by the cancer team. He is suffering extreme pain due to the bone metastasis and has been given pain relief but no offer of radiation due to the virus. This is delaying his stroke recovery as he's in so much pain and the drugs make him sleepy. He's also suffering from dizzy spells which haven't been diagnosed yet. The doctor won't come out so I have to take him there tomorrow. Poor man is fighting on 2 fronts and I don't know how to help him get the support and treatment he needs. I do understand that staff and resources are needed to fight corona virus but it's so hard seeing someone you love suffer. Sorry, just needed to get this off my chest.

  • Hi jwalk, don't worry every body comes on forum to rant and moan. It helps to ease the thoughts. So sorry your being messed about by NHS.

I'm slightly different to your husband. My prostate Cancer went to lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and a lung was diagnosed Feb 2016 been on palliative care since.

Hope things get sorted soon. Best wishes for the future.

    Billy

  • I completely sympathise with your feeling of being abandoned. I completely get that Covid is a serious threat, but what about all the other sock people, surely they matter as well?
I am so sorry to hear about your husband, nothing I can say will make it better but just know you aren't alone in your pain.
