My partner is undergoing investigations for a psa of 200. I've heard results can be as high as in the 1000's. I'm trying to remain positive although I'm so worried about him. Has anyone else had the same result and what was the outcome?
Thank you

Hi Amethyst it all depends on if it is still contained in the prostate, he should be having scans and a biopsy to confirm things,
If still contained its usually a choice of hormone treatment (tablets or injection) and radiotherapy.... Or removal.
If it's spread out side of the prostate slightly it's still hormone therapy and radiotherapy.
If further spread its hormone therapy and cemotherapy
Psa can vary greatly to the treatment options hence scans to find out exactly where it is..
Mine went to lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and a lung i was diagnosed Feb 2016 still on the go living a normal life my psa was 1581. Last checked this year was 2.2..there is someone on forum now and again his was over 3000..
Hope this helps when results are in we can give you a better idea of treatment if you want to ask I'll get in touch with others or they might join in to talk anyway. Best wishes for the future.
Billy
Hi Billy, thank you so much for your kind message, it has helped a great deal. He's having a biopsy this morning and a bone scan a week today. I'm glad that you're still on the go and living a normal life, that's fantastic! And yes, when his results come back it would be really would value the feedback from others.
Best wishes, take care,
Amethyst
Hi, I have just arrived home after attending Oncology for my intial consultation after Prostate cancer diagnosis.
My PSA last week was 16.9 now 20 which is considered high. My Gleason score is 3+5=8 and my cancer is classed as locally advanced as it is extendng to seminal vessicles.
I will be starting hormone treatment next week for 3 months and then returning for radiotherapy. According to my consultant I will be receiving hormone treatment for three years
The future is uncertain but I remain positive.
Best wishes for the future
Robert
Hello [@ROB2112] - how are you doing, it's been a month since you posted last?
I am waiting for my MRI / bisopsies appointment a week today (21 Feb) following my first ever PSA test came in at 61 five days ago. I am 52 years old with no symotoms whatsoever. I'm trying to remain positive but I worry about the future and the increased chance of stage 3 or even 4 prostate cancer with such high PSA readings.
Agreed sale of my home over the weekend that would secure 800k of a buffer for my wife should the worst happen (great news considering the situaiuton) but that fell through today, feeling increasingly worried.
Hoping you're well. Interested to learn from your experience.
Matthew
Hi Billy, really good to read your post as I'm worried for my husband who's PSA is currently 222. He was diagnosed in 2018, had chemo, radiotherapy, radium 223, chemo again and don't really have anywhere else to go. It spread to spine in 2019/20. We've been offered a trial of immune therapy but not sure if we should try to find the money for lutetium therapy that NICE have not approved, which is frustrating. It's all stressful.
Any advice/reactance would be lovely, thank you.
