Hi

I have just started chemotherapy and have the metallic taste in my mouth - I found eating with plastic cutlery really helps. I can use metal cutlery to prepare the food but only put plastic cutlery  in my mouth.  I also found bland foods taste horrible but stronger favours taste ok. Boiled sweets also help take taste away for a short time. 

Hi dolly as Cher says strong tasting food is best it still isn't normal but a lot better than bland things. I always had a bottle of good ginger ale near by.. Hope things go well for your father. And don't forget to look after yourself.. Best wishes for the future.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will be taking yours and Cher's advice on board for my father, he has only gotten this metallic taste sensation today after his first session of paliative chemotherapy. Does it tend to ease or is it constant when you're receiving chemotherapy? Thank you again
