Wife just got diagnosed as terminal

Not long back from the hospital, thought we were just going to discuss the upcoming surgery since my wife has now completed chemo. Things were looking up. We got the news that it's spread from her breast to her bones and lungs. It feels as though the wind has been knocked out of me and I don't know what to do. My wife is only 30 years old and we have two young children together. I'm so scared about everything.

  • Hello Fantapants
Welcome to the forum although I'm very sorry to hear about the news that you and your wife were goven by the Consultant earlier this week. I'm sure it's been a very difficult few days and I'm not surprised that you're feeling scared about everything.

I wonder if it might help for you to talk things through with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure that they will be able to offer some advice and support. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

I hope that some of our members will post soon to say Hello and share some words of support. Please know that you're not alone and you're welcome to post here to ask questions, chat to others or simply to offload your thoughts and feelings.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Fantapants, Really sorry to read your news. It doesn't get much worse than that. Both I and my wife have been diagnosed with cancer over the last few years, but we have never had to face anything like this. But there are members of this site who have. Best wishes, Harry

  • Hi Fantapants

I'm sorry to hear about what your wife has been going through. This must have come as a shock and be a difficult time.

What does her specialist say is the next step? Just because it has spread does not mean that there are not options available for her.

She should also have a specialist nurse who is easily contactable to give you all some support. Try not to let your mind to carry away with worries and 'worst case scenarios'. It soudns like you need more information about the future.

Feel free to DM if you need to offload
