Hey everyone, well if there is anyone who might be reading this. I've joined cancer research forum today to see if anyone out they're may well be in similar or have been in a similar situation like myself. I've thought about creating posts etc on social media for feedback however came across this & thought I'd give this a go, after all it is what my story's related to - Cancer !
I'm a 37 year old girl with 2 loving parents. 7 months ago my world shattered when not just 1 but my 2 parents (both mum & dad) were diagnosed with metastic cancer ( previous cancer that had spread ) my mum who's 69 years old had breast cancer way back in 2004, 14 years later she developed endometrial cancer in August 2018, 11 months later that cancer came back but this time there is no cure ! My mum was diagnosed with metastatic endometrial cancer which has spread all around her peritoneum ,lymph nodes, lining of the liver & lining of the small bowel. In September 2019 mum started a round of 6 cycles of palliative chemotherapy - she managed 4/6. She's alive today, however for how long ! We had her CT scan yesterday to determine the progress of her cancer , the results will be given to us on 15th January ! Seems a lifetime away. Waiting , waiting, waiting !
Dad - November 2017 my dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, the doctor described my dad's cancer by a chart of lions. A small cub at the beginning to a huge roaring lion at the top, my dad was at the top- in the doctors words my dads cancer was aggressive as a verocious lion ! He had a Gleason Sum of 9 & a PSA Level of 65 ! PSA levels are on average 0.9 ! He underwent double shots of Radiotherapy (32 in total ) until May 2018. He also got injected 22 Hormone Therapy Injections every 4 weeks by the district nurses. November 2018 exactly 1 year on from prostate diagnosis my dad was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer! A T4 Tumor in his colon. This tumor was to large to operate so they decided to give a cycle of 6 Chemotherapy infusions to try & shrink they tumor. My dad managed 5. Between this time my dad developed sepsis & spent 11 days in hospital. July 2019 my dad was rushed by ambulance to hospital , he developed a blockage in the bowel which was starting to perforate. They had no option but to operate. He spent 19 days in hospital & recovered eventually from the operation. We were told it was the most difficult operation of the surgeon to complete by date, reason being because of the damage radiotherapy had done to my dads insides. In the doctor's words my dad was a mass of concrete !
You'l probarbly have gathered from the dates above my mum was in hospital whilst my dad was in another 15 miles apart From each other - all at the exact same time !
Moving on - 5 months after being let home from his major emergency operation Dad gets taken by ambulance yet again December 1st 2019 : This time Dad is still in hospital as I write this : His T4 Bowel Tumor has spread to his Small Bowel ( Intestines ) & his liver. He currently has 2 stoma bags ( left & right side ) with small bowel one taken over from large bowel. My dad's cancer has no cure ! No more operations & no more treatment !
My mum is living with terminal cancer , My dad is living with terminal cancer !
Me ? I'm Living in a heartache nightmare .......
