I am sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis and that he is feeling worse 4 weeks post treatment and is exhausted and in so much pain. It's a shame the hospital has not given you much info and I hope that once he has had his follow up scans he will be given more details about everything. You have come to the right place though to connect with others who have been affected by throat cancer as we have quite a few members here amongst the Cancer Chat community who have been diagnosed with throat cancer and who have even written blogs sharing their experiences. This is Hazel I am 16 month post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer , yes the treatment is brutal and recovery isn’t as quick as everyone is lead to believe ,but honestly there’s is light at  end of the tunnel .I amd many others including Anchor 1707;aka Ian are proof. the first few months nit weeks of recovery can be challenging .

what you have to remember is our bodies have been chemical burned and radiation burned it does take time for everything to settle back down .i liken it to 2 steps forward one step back l Even now I have a 20 min power nap every day ,plusnthere are certain foods I cannot eat ,anything)no soicy is out ,plus many meats  ost Fay’s are difficult to swallow . but I’ve been abroad 5 times in last year ridden over 1000. Km on my bike . 

Yes the recovery is long but at least we are in remission with an excellent chance of  this cancer never return8ng 

i know what we do with our mouth and Throat is everything we eat we talk we breathe it’s really hard in everyone’s .

i have a blog with over 13,000 views this year pop by you may get some tips or proof that there’s is light at the end of the tunnel.

Again to follow up mention from moderator and others re blog.

I have posted a link to my blog which also shares my experience.

Try not to despair too much as its normal to feel worse after treatment than during and recovery can bring some challenges along with no real set timeframe around getting back to some form of new normal.

I kept saying there is light at the end of the tunnel and it will apply to your dad as well.
Unfortunately, right now it's a time thing but recovery from it all will happen.
Good that your dads a positive person as that helps and might be an idea to speak to the support team as there are solutions to help alleviate and control/manage pain.
