I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has been given this diagnosis. I'm sure that it's come as a great shock to you all especially as you say she has been so fit and well. However, it sounds positive that the Consultant has said she has treatment options available to her. Hopefully the next appointment she has will give you some answers and reassurance about things. 
We do have some information on our website about lung cancer which may be of interest. You're welcome to call and speak to our team of nurses as well. They are typically available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040. The office is closed now but reopens Friday morning and will be closed on New Years Day as well.

Hi hun my mum has been told she has non cell small lung cancer too newly diagnosed bit hers has spread to her windpipe and lymph nodes and she's been told she can have treatment but she can't be operated on and basically hers is palliative care.... Its heartbreaking but lease try stay strong for her that's what I'm doing putting a game face on... Here if u need to talk

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, its so difficult to deal with isnt it. Especially as you put it 'the game face', been doing this for weeks now while waiting for results and its absolutely exhausting!!

If you need a rant or vent anytime I dont mind as we're both facing the same thing at the min xx

Hello both of you, just to say I did have the same diagnosis for my Mum - what we thought was a persistent cold was stage 4 lung cancer. All I would say is that the palliative care made a most enormous difference to her and to the family...but it was a short period only for us from diagnosis to death. We managed to make some great memories in that time though, and she was able (and well enough) to say goodbye to friends and family....Don't just keep game face on though, its exhausting and as the family you are in the middle of it, you may find friends can support without having to be in the middle....in any case thinking of you both now.

Sorry I've only just seen your response and I am so sorry to hear about your mum but its lovely you made some memories (those will never fade!).

My mum starts immunotherapy on Monday, she's scared but staying positive. Its true what you said about friends though, I've realised I have the most amazing support from the most unlikely people especially in work.
