My mum was diagnosed with endometrial cancer a few weeks ago. It’s suggested it may be present in the cervix too. The consultant is positive about the prognosis - recommending a hysterectomy and possible radiotherapy. I believe this is good news - but mum is convinced they have got it wrong!
She is not managing the symptoms well (significant PV bleeding) and was reassured by her GP that this is to be expected. The practice nurse took bloods yesterday and the FBC was normal but there is a slightly low potassium level.
Mum has not been out since the diagnosis and personal care has declined - spending most of the time laying down or in bed. This evening she said her legs had lost power - and dad and I had great trouble getting her to the bathroom. The out of hours doctor had booked a visit with the first responder - but is as baffled as the rest of us as to what the problem is.
She’s only 69 years old - but is like an old lady in a nursing home! It’s like she’s given up before we even start treatment. I’m worried dad will struggle now that she’s unable to move.
