Feeling overwhelmed

First of hello. Its my first post. Be nice haha

So im 27. My mum had breast cancer 8 years ago but now has secondary bone cancer and Lymphedema. I am the person who deals with all the important information. Making sure she has all her appointments, scans, medication i do everything u name it.

I then have my dad who now has complete cataracts in 1 eye and startings of it in another... awaitng operation but i was the one who made the appoinments. Kept on top u name it. He also has a solid lump in the middle of his throat but u no men wont go docs.

I also have prolapse of the bowel which im struggling to get under control at the moment with all the stress.

I have two little ones 1 and three and a husband who works alot to help out.

Im to scared to speak to a therapist as i think it will make me week. Im meant to be the strong one for everyone.

Im just scared of being parentless by 30 :/ sorry guys i dont really have anyone to talk to as hubby shuts off.

Thank you every one !!

  • Hi tben don't worry I'll be gentle with you, sounds like you have your hands full, could you get a call out doctor for your father,, I'm like you i do everything for my wife, she needs 24/7 care, can't walk without support, or wheelchair, trouble is I'm the one with incurable cancer, so we struggle sometimes, but we manage your doing well, but get your dad sorted out, good luck..... Billy

  • Hello.

  • Hi tashi reason I come on forum is I can't do anything for myself so I try to help others, it makes me feel I have some control of my life you have to look after yourself as well, what happens if you get ill, best wishes, a friend... Billy

  • Hi you come on and chat whenever it gets to much .ive just had cateract surgery its amazing so your dads eysight will improve in minuits to me it was like and then there was lightso that may take some of your worry away. We men are rubbish we dont look after ourselves .maybe your hubbys just so worried about it all he escapes my friends like that thinks if he ignores things they will go away . I wish i could say something to make it better maybe just try not to worry we worry and it makes it worse it may just be a cyst or something lumps are not allways cancer guess you will have to tell him and hubby the stress is getting you down if you dont tell em they will not know . Are you getting any support from mcmillan they allso have a free helpline abd you can spk to a cancer nurse theres a helpline on here to .if it gets to bad theres the samaritans to they are there for everyone i used to ring them when my partner was ill as she was many times like you i had to get my worrys out its hard being the rock in the family but theres help but dosnt come nocking at the door you have to look for it try the hospice they send out assesment teams best wishs paul

  • Hey !

    Thank you for your reply.

Yh i know men are pants haha i think i will just book him a doctors appointment and get that checked. And yh we cant wait for his op was it painful as hes worrying about the injection to numb it all.

I personally am getting no support or help. I can from the hospice as they have offered loads as they work closely with my mum.. i just dont want to be a burden for  anyone. I will have a word with them tho when my mum isnt around.

As for my hubby yh he just like to keep busy and not think about these  things as there has been cancer in his family recently and he gets worried because he doesnt know what to say to people.

Thank you for your reply !!.... tasha

  • Hi billy.

Well thats a lovely thing to do ! Its people like yourself that make people like me better and not alone... well i am suffering with health problems with prolapse of the bowel after having my two children. Its very painful and uncomfortable but doctors cant do alot untill it gets to a certain point. Then its operation time.but then i worry i cant have time away because something may happen to the others haha its a circle of worry Haha.

Thank you for reaching out and helping....tasha

  • Hi tasha there is no injection to freeze eye you go and they put a tinny tinny pelet in your eye to start with its to make your eye dilate then you go and sit down in waiting earea they come and check its still in mine kept coming out so they just kept putting drops in theopthalamist has a look on his mashine just to check then they take you .in to preop and put drops in that numb your eye .then into op room surgeon then says open your eye and lowers like a sticky gauze thats it then you cant move your eye no clamps like you see in the films theres a tiny pinhole he lowers microscop all you see is a bright light with three black dots then you feel nothing you can just here maahine talking and staff nurse holds your hand ten minutes later of comes the gauze and bang you can see like a young person again but he will need sunglasses as its blinding i walked round the house with curtains draw for 3 days had to put sun glasses on to look out of window but once eye got used to light again it was truely wonerful anyway thats how it went with me if you want sedation to paralise you eye then they put a needle in .i was worried i i would blink or close my eye while the surgeon

Was cutting but you cant see anything or feel anything then into recovery room for a cuppa and a buiscuit then when yo feel ok of you go you have cover over your eye they give you steroid and antibiotic drops to put in and then you go back to opticians after a while and they check your lenz like your dad ime waiting for othere eye doing but not worried .maybe read this to your dad  eh. Hope thats helped . You know why dont don show your post to the pair of em .they may get the message then yes we are pants lol we are a bit thick skinned that would get through to me you know your healths most important at this time bless ya .paul ps take all the help you can get its not charity we pay in for this all our lives if you get ill what will happen then

  • Hi paul.

Oh wow thank you for that he will really appreciate this as he is so worried about being injected so  ill tell him this ! He cant see a thing from the bad eye and currently wears sunglasses all the time now as it makes his eye sight better.  Its crazy as 1 day his eye was itchy and weezing.. i booked a appoinment for the following week.. the day before the opticians and he couldnt see from it.. it progressed so fast but i will read him this tomorrow !! thank you so  much!!

Yh i may do that ! Let them read this.. yh i know haha ive seen my dad cry 1 time and my husband 2 times... geez when i was pregnant i was always crying haha !!

    Thank you again !! Tasha
