Hi, sorry to hear your news, what treatment are the medics offering?  Did you know at the begining of treatment your Dad had both adenocarcinoma and sqamous cell cancer.  They told us my husband has both and it is rare. 

Thanks for this post, Ward19 this is really interesting. I've just been diagnosed with esophagial cancer at age 40 and am currently awaiting results from my PET scan as the CT scan showed the the cancer had also gone to my nymph nodes. They have graded my adenocarcinoma at 3/4 and this last scan will tell them which stage it is.

Firstly i'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis Ben. It's a positive that they are doing a PET scan as that may give hope that they can use some surgical intervention if it's positive. Did they tell you if you are N1/2 or 3 (Lymph node involvement level). Don't get too bogged down wiht the grading but more the staging - fingers crossed it's T1-3. 

My dad is still going strong despite being advanced on diagnosis, it's not been a smooth ride though. He was taken off the immunotherapy because they found a biopsy of sqamous carcinoma and suggested his histology may have changed (6months ago). Since then he's had a recent CT (1 week ago) which shows no disease progression, but he's had some issues with the stenting they put in (it's moved down) and he's been offered another.

We' ve declined another stent after getting a 2nd opinion from a consultant, who has decided to offer dad radiotherapy to further help contain the cancer to the esophagus and avoid further stenting. There's still some thickening of the esophagus at the junction but it doesnt appear to be active but is still causing slight narrowing (dad's eating fairly normal just not solid meat).

There's hope he will keep ticking on despite being advanced at the age of 66 - to note if you didn't know him you might not know he's been ill.

My dad is 48 and was diagnosed last Thursday. We don’t know staging but we are told inoperable adenicarinoma and it’s spread to some nodes but not other organs. We have appointment with oncology tomorrow.

Firstly I'm sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis. My Father/ our family were in your posiiton in Sept 2018 (Father was dianosed with Adenocarcinoma Stage 4 & inoperable do to several lymph being affected. Feel free to ask some questions and i would happily discuss my father's journey so far.

My brother has just been diagnosed with inoperable stage 2/3 GOJ cancer with has metasisized and is in the lymph nodes.  Any advice would be welcome as doctors are just put in on to palative care.  Im not sure if I just accept that or search for more answers and help for him.  Our local hospital is not great and I worry in times of Covid that he is just being pushed aside due to budget constraints.  any advice is welcome
