Hi, just started chemo and I have a dog, however she wants nothing to do with me, which is pretty upsetting. I would think a puppy would be too much work, I agree with dbird.

as long as your relative has someone to step in and do the walks when their feeling low I see no reason not to get a wee companion. But I must say if it wasn't for my hubby I couldn't have coped with Rubi on my own the first few days post chemo...I felt just vile ( perked up now though) 

talk to the shelter staff, they may well just have the perfect wee pooch ready to step in and be nurse maid.....xxxx

Thank you for your reply, I think your right after Chemo is a good idea. 

At the moment they have one for two fridays running then 1 week break (this is one cycle), but only 1 cycle down five more to go.

I tried last night to look into Dog Cafes etc thinking they might be able to drop the pooch of there whilst having Chemo then pick then up after, but then there might be a risk of it picking something up from another dog.

Its hard because after the loss of their spouse they are really lonely, guess Ill just have to think of something else for now.

rubi is the black and white one in my pic, she is a rescue Breton spaniel....she will sit across the room from me just staring.....she looks very puzzled, however what I find odd is that she goes nuts sniffing the loo ( never shut door) after I've had a pee!!! She literally is in a frenzy!!

i am hoping my next cycle will be kinder....I took my wig out for an airing today...big mistake...far too windy!  Do the bottoms of your feet tingle? Heartburn? Wind?

I haven't been told about any injections....I suppose we're all on our own unique paths..

blimey, can't win...took senna last night due to constipation now have had to take something to stop the diarrhoea!!! Really do t know what's worse.....arrrhhh

soory you were sick yesterday, I had flu jab week before chemo...thank goodness.

I find it odd how the slightest thing wears me out, feel such a wussy right now xxxx

yes, don't know why I'm not getting the white cell injections, feel left out now....I will ask at onco appointment..

Eating is a strange thing now isn't it? Just devoured a bag of cheese and onion crisps, anybody would think it was my first ever packet! They were sublimely wonderful...   it's macaroni cheese for tea tonight.....mmmm, cheese seems to be playing a big part of my diet.....xxxx
