Wife has breast cancer - Chemo then mastectomy

With the diagnosis a few days before Christmas and then notification a few days ago that actually my wife will have to have chemo before a mstectomy, rather than lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy it has been a rather surreal few weeks. My wife is accepting as many invitiations for prosecco as possible before chemo starts and is being amazing. Our children are 14 and 11 and fully in the picture. Lots of people have asked how I am feeling (where to start?!)

What on earth should I be expecting in the months ahead?

  • Hello, firstly let me say sorry you find yourself on here. Then let me tell you how much support there will be on here for both you and your wife ( should she seek it)

There are many ladies here who are goi g through exactly what your wife is going through so I know you will get replies to your thread. I myself had my breast cancer diagnosis a few days before Christmas, my husband has been my rock and we both can talk openly about everything that is happening....I hope you can too. I suppose we all cope in our different ways, there will be The highs and The lows , but what I can say is this forum has saved my sanity, I often read out some of the posts to my husband .....

I will look out for your future posts and no questions is a silly one....as a whole one of us here will be able to offer something....even if it's just to say....it's ok....your normal and your not going mad.....take care xxx

  • Thank you. This does seem like a remarkably positive place. My first ever visit to a forum.

We are talking very openly - and actually more openly about non-cancer subjects as well.

Well, will keep you posted. Thank you and all the best to you.
