Hello,
A freind of mine is in an odd situation: he has/is out-living his Dr's estimated time left... Great, right?
It would be, but the hospice and Macmillan are withdrawing care from him soon. He has only been recieving end of life care (no treatment like chemo or radiology) for a few months now. Because he's still alive, he's been removed for carer lists for the local NHS services, and Macmillan.
This is obvioulsy very stressful for his family and friends, as well as him. We don't know what to do. Can end of life care be withdrawn, just becasue that "end of life" is lasting longer than predicted? The NHS's own website states that the care might be needed for "years", and he's only had it for a few months.
If anyone has been in, or is in a similar situation, please help. Everyone deserves dignity at the end.
