Hi I know how you feel it’s like being punched in the tummy and having your heart ripped out , all I can advise is take each day as it comes and support your mum, it’s hard I know but you can get through this I promise stay strong xx

I got diagnosed with cervical cancer last year and thankfully have made a full recovery.  I know what you are all going through. It’s the whole family that is effected.     Please keep talking to each other. We did an awful lot of crying and laughing at times. I went to see my GP during my treatment and was given very mild anti depressants to help with headaches, sleep, worrying. They seemed to help a little so that might be worth thinking about. 

Once I was diagnosed the nhs was amazing and I could not have faulted my treatment. I hope your mum is the same.  I have a husband, daughter 23, son 20 and I think it has brought us closer together.

The waiting for scan results, biopsy’s etc was the worst.  I know how awful this is and such a shock but you have each other and there is an awful lot of people out there to help!

Also, I found the Macmillan nurses very helpful with practical help, financial etc and for explaining things that you might not be able to take in when your mum sees the doctor. It might be a good idea for you to accompany your mum for comfort and an extra pair of ears.

I know how you feel I'm 23 and an only child my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in July she is 54 I still can't get my head around it the only thing that makes me feel better is being with her it's hard because they have enough to worry about without worrying about us too, try to stay positive I know it's hard but it's the only thing you can do x

My mum was diagnosed in March and it really is terrifying, especially as I work so far away from home. The best thing you can do is spend as much time with your mum as possible so that you both can reassure each other. I found that there were certain parts of my mums journey actually brought us closer together. Things like her losing her hair and helping her try to boost her confidence means she confides in me more which is wonderful!

Don't be scared to talk to your mum's nurses about all your worries, I regularly phoned my mum's nurses who always keep me updated and are willing to explain anything that myself or my family don't understand. I also went to my mum's original appointments with the nurses (she had breast cancer so might be different I'm not sure). I can promise you that there are a lot of people that you can talk to about your worries if you don't want to talk to your mum about them, friends, family, chats like these. 

This is a very tough time, I completely understand what you're going through, the best thing you can do is hold your mum's hand and support her through all this and you'll be surprised as to how much it will also help you.
