how do I support her through cancer

My partner has been diagnosed with stage 3b cervical cancer about 2 weeks ago and our worlds have been turned upside down. We have a 17 month old boy. How do I even start to support her through all this and still keep our world stable and our little boy protected?

Her treatment has been speeded up and the first radiation and chemo will be starting on Monday morning. How can I help her through this first 5-6 weeks of treatment?

  • Hi Marty

Best support you can be is to be there for her let her know she can tell you anything. Don't keep things bottled up instead you and talk to each other. You will need to take your lead from her when she's up be up when she's down comfort her but stay positive.

If people offer to help take it, especially with a young child. It's a hard journey you are both on and I found that friends phoning up for a chat or going out for coffee was a great boost. She will get tired and so will you so rest when you can.
