Losing my Dad

Hi I have been reading some of the posts on this forum and it seems like a very supportive place to post. My Dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer October last year and had surgery to remove the tumours.  We were told they were high grade but hadn't yet spread beyond the bladder. Fast forward to March and he started feeling really unwell. He went to the doctors and was diagnosed with liver secondaries. He's has gone downhill so fast, only a few weeks ago he was still at work and now he spends most of the day in bed. He has completed one round of chemo but we're hoping he will be well enough to continue treatment. I'm so sad I'm Getting married in November and he won't be around to walk me up the aisle. All the things we used to do together we can't do anymore and I struggle seeing him look so poorly. It's so hard. I'm not really sure how I will cope when he goes, he's always been there for me and has been a huge part of my life.

  • Hello Mousie,

You have joined a very supportive forum and there are many here who will know only too well how you are feeling at the moment as they have also had to care for a parent with cancer. I am so sorry to hear your dad has been feeling really unwell and has been diagnosed with liver secondaries. It must be very difficult for you to see him spend most of his day in bed. I do hope he feels better soon and that he can continue his treatment.

I hope it isn't too hard for you to focus on the wedding preparations with all that is going on. You will meet some lovely people here who have been in exactly your situation and I am sure they will have some suggestions to help you cope in the coming weeks and months.

    Best wishes,
