Hello Kully, 

It must be very hard to watch your dad coughing and short of breath. You did the right thing though to join this forum as you will find some strength here and some comfort from talking to others who understand and who also have a loved one with lung cancer.

Living so far away must make things harder for you but I am sure your dad knows that you are there for him even if you don't live next door. It's great you have a very supportive family. I am sure you will also find some supportive friends here on this forum who can understand better than anyone how you are feeling at the moment.

Hi Kully, you sound like me, everyone thought I was the strong one, but I used to go to bed everynight and cry myself to sleep, the thought of losing my dad, scared the life out of me.

I threw myself into getting him help, which helped me lots.  But that may be hard as you live so far away.  You'll find your way to help even if its a phone call to him x

My dad's breathing wasn't very good either, your dad may need inhalers, oxgyen or a respirator.
