oesophagal cancer surgery

Hello,

My partners mother underwent an operation to remove a tumour from the oesophagus which involved removing part of it and attaching stomach to remainder. I would like to know if anyone has or knows anyone who has had this type of operation and if they had any complications and also what the quality of life was after this. Unfortunately her mother passed away and we are trying to get a collection of people's accounts of this type of operation. Her operation was in Belfast city hospital but I would welcome any feedback as it is very important to the family.

Thank you so much in advance.

  • hello Paul

if you go on the macmillian forum and ask in the oesophageal group there are alot of people who had the op and at different stages. Its not an easy ride after the op but you can live well after the op - just have to watch how you eat/drink because of dumping symdrome.

my dad had OC but couldnt have the op.
