my amazing little mum

Hi I'm new here. I found out a week ago my mum has suspected lung cancer. I am trying my hardest to be upbeat for her but not sure if that's the right way to be with her? I feel like I want to scream how unfair this is as she is due to retire this year and has had a pretty tough life anyway. I'm not sure if I'm handling it very well I just keep crying and I'm feeling so much guilt if I've done something where I've had a nice time and if I've been laughing at something I suddenly feel like I'm being pulled back into reality and feel so guilty is this normal?? I don't think the not knowing is helping we find out on the 23rd would the doctors say they suspected it if they weren't sure??

  • Hello Kiki,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Sorry to hear that your Mum is having to deal with a possible diagnosis of lung cancer.

We have a couple of new members that have posted in the last few days who have a parent dealing with lung cancer and I'm going to post links to their threads below so that you can make contact with them.

Lyns has a thread called Knowing my Dad has lung cancer and Skyeblue has a thread called My Dad has lung cancer.

We do also have a team of nurses that you can call to speak to if you feel it might be helpful to talk to someone about your Mum's news. They are avilable Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (free to call from a UK landline).

Best wishes for the appointment next week. Plesae do let us know how it goes.
