Please help me

My dad got diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer with distant lymph node involvement and its affected his liver aswell. He is to weak for chemotherapy. And we feel as if the doctors have given up on him now, we have to make him comfortable and painfree. He had a stent inserted about 3weeks ago which was meant to get him abit better so he could eat. He's lost so much weight. I feel helpless. doctors don't seem to be interested anymore. Dad only got diagnosed end of September 2014 and everything has changed so quickly.- can any1 help us we feel we're stuck and don't no where to turn

  • Hi Tasha,

Smiling to try and hide your emotions regards bad situations is something I also used to do when I was younger. Even a few years ago when my mother was suffering from breast cancer, I did exactly the same thing. In a way it's quite natural because we are trying to make others believe we are coping, when inside we are feeling so much pain and uncertainty, mostly because we dont want them worrying about us even more. The fact that you say you have struggled with your emotions all your life tells me you are a very sensitive and caring person. Emotions are a powerful force and are often underestimated by most people until they find themselves in a similar situation to yours.

It is so hard watching someone we love suffering and it's even harder accepting it. I know what you are going through so please keep in contact for talking does help.

Sending best wishes and kind thoughts, Brian.

  • I am in the same situation with my husband.  He is been diagnosed 2 weeks ago same like your dad , with  metastases to liver and nothing they can do.  He declined chemo.  He is on Dexamethasone for 3 days only , oramorph.  I also give him herbal remedies, this had helped him alot. The only this he doesn't sleep well...look very tired.  Unfortunately it's not an easy situation. Keep going, be strong.
