My Daughter Carrie

My daughter Carrie who has a brain tumour and is 33 years old with three young children. Im Carrie's father and absolutely broken hearted and indeed a broken man. My wife Sandra has tried to lift my spirits but I am inconsolable with not only shock at how quickly this disease has taken hold of my daughter Carrie but the trauma it has brought to all the family. Please help me to find some form of peace.

  • Dear Bill,

I am sorry but I don't have any experience of brain tumours, but can empathise with being the parent of a child with cancer (our toddler has leukeamia).  It is a terrible to have to see your child go through this and all that it entails.  I am not sure how you find peace with it.  I can only say that we live each day the best that we can and take pleasure from that day.  Many of my friends (without cancer) 'exist' - but don't truly appreciate the beauty in each day.  Cancer makes you appreciate the 'little things' which perhaps aren't so little after all.

I am sure there will be others along soon to 'speak' to you - in the meantime, you are in our thoughts.  Joanne x (Dalton)
