Helping teenage children with a terminally ill parent - has anyone else been in this situation? My husband has only weeks to live

My husband has been given weeks to live after battling a brain tumour for 11 years.  He is 45 and our children are 13 and 15.  They have never known him well but with them at the age they are now and him deteriorating rapidly now I am asking if anyone else is in a similar situation or is helping their teenage children with a terminally ill parent.  They dont know anyone else in their world who is going through anything like this.  In the midst of it all I want to help them with the loneliness of the struggle.  Thank you all.

  • I know it’s a while since you posted and I hope you have some support. I have reached out to my children’s school and they’ve been really supportive to them. They have days of acting up, but I suppose that’s normal for any teenager. Maggies centres have some really good information booklets for children to read if you haven’t found them yet. Sending virtual hugs to you and your family through the internet. Xx
