Finding a positive

Ive a friend who has been diagnosed with stage 4 Anal which is in the liver too...

How do you try to stay positive? Give positive support?

Waiting for a plan to start their fight.

I just want to go and be there but even talking on the phone is too much for them atm. Im 2 hours away.  I know it's not about me, can some one help me calm my heart!  How do I support from a distance and be positive what I read is everything but

Close friends  have lost 2 children, 1 adult in the last 18 mths .

  • Hi Lyse

My husband has stage 4 kidney cancer spread to brain, bones and lung. My best friend is hours away and has a busy job too. Sometimes support comes in so many different ways. A message saying you are thinking of them and they don't need to reply.

Its hard to stay positive but for me its living day by day. Try not to look into the future, each day is enough to contend with when you are watching someone go through all of this. Be gentle on yourself too, this is a lot to take in.

  • Hi Lyse

I have an old friend who keeps in̈ touch they send me a few short text messages a week and a joke each time. I really appreciate this and the humour lifts my spirits, for a minute my cancer is gone and life is normal. Laughter really is the best medicine. Perhaps you and your friend could swap jokes as a way of staying in touch it would be a good way for you to feel postive while giving support to your friend. The are lots of websites with jokes for you to find inspiration.

Sending you love and laughter ️

  • HI lyse

What a lovely thing to do for your friend to send photos from your woodland walk with your dogs. A framed picture of you both and the dogs is a great idea. I would be delighted to receive such a gift from a friend. It is thoughts like this that make life so much better.

  • I have been diagnosed with anal cancer and I’m petrified , friends have been asking to join them on nights out ! It’s the last thing I want to do ! Just a message to say you are thinking of them means a lot !!
