  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Dee44 although I'm sorry to hear your mum has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. This must be a very difficult time for you both.

Please don't feel guilty or selfish for wanting to look after your mental health. Supporting someone with cancer, especially stage 4, can be very challenging so it's very important to make sure you take care of yourself both physically and emotionally so you're able to support your mum when she needs it the most.

We have further information and advice about mental health and cancer on our website but if it would help to talk things through with someone, do give our cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and address any other issues or concerns you may have at this time as well.

We're sending you all our support Dee44 and wishing your mum all the best with her chemo.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
