Support ♡Hubby's cancer ♡

Hello everyone

I have only just come across this support forum thankfully. I'm here to... I'm not sure why but to talk to others & be their if anyone else wants to talk..

My hubby was diagnosed with stage 3 hodgkin's lymphoma 3 months ago, hes 47, we was absolutely shell shocked as you are but it's an emotional & difficult time. Hes having 6 month of chemotherapy half way their. It's hard for him he has some nasty side effects from the chemo, I feel like I cant do anything to help him, its natural Instinct for you to feel this way, to want to make him better, its tough isnt it, its hard watching him go through it bless him. Trying to keep positive! Can anyone relate?

  • Hello Amie_lilly88,

Welcome to the Cancer Chat community, though I’m so sorry to hear about what brings you here. Supporting a loved one through cancer can be such a difficult and emotional experience, and it’s clear how much you care about your husband.

You’ll find that many people here are navigating similar challenges and will understand what you’re going through. It can help to share your thoughts and experiences, so I hope you’ll feel comfortable reaching out to others in the community.

You might also find this page on support for family, friends, and caregivers helpful. It offers advice on how to cope with the emotional and practical aspects of being there for someone with cancer.

If you’d like to talk things through with someone, our cancer nurses are available to provide advice and support. You can reach them Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, on 0808 800 4040.

Please don’t hesitate to keep us updated or let us know how you’re getting on.

All the best to you and your husband,

  • Keeping positive is a great idea. Sometimes he might want to talk about not so positive things. I’m sure he, like you has a million thoughts. So don’t beat yourself up if you can’t keep up the positivity constantly. Do you have a trusted friend to confide in? Even if they haven’t had a similar experience, an empathetic friend can often offer advice as they will know you well.
I hope your husband has a smoother road ahead and a long and healthy life. X
