My father was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer in January 2023. It was identified as a solitary lesion in one of his lungs, which was surgically removed, and he was declared cancer-free. Unfortunately, microscopic disease later spread to his brain, where a single lesion was treated with radiotherapy. Following this, he was started on a treatment regimen of Pembrolizumab combined with Pemetrexed and Carboplatin. His response to the treatment has been excellent, with both brain and lung scans showing stable disease.
However, more recently, he has been experiencing a loss of taste in food. This is surprising, as only two weeks ago, his appetite and food intake were excellent. I am seeking advice on what might help resolve this issue. I do not believe it is related to the progression of the disease, as his most recent scan this week showed no significant changes compared to the end of November.
Any thoughts?
