Unsure if I want to know husband's prognosis

Hi - my husband has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer - metastatic- had bone scan & ct scan & we’re waiting to see the oncologist to give us the prognosis & see how far the cancer has gone.

I desperately want to be there with my husband for the oncologist meeting but, although he wants to know, I’m not sure I can face knowing how long he may have in actual years. I feel such a coward - I’m just not sure what to do. Feeling very selfish & frightened.

  • Hi Eddie - how are things with you? Hope you’re doing ok managing to get away as much as possible & see your family too.
We’ve planned a bit more now the radiotherapy done so going to Portugal next week for a few days to see my brother who’s had the stroke. My other two brothers will be there too so first family reunion for ten years. Then going back out to France in May & June all being well.
Nige seems happy & optimistic atm which I’m very grateful for.
Hope your daughter’s treatment going well too. Love Linda xx

  • Hi Linda, Yippee the radiotherapy is over, the radiographers are lovely but it drags on, and I can't blame you for wanting to get away, though I'm truly sorry to hear about your brother, and hope he's doing as well as hoped, and meeting your other brothers too sounds lovely, as does Portugal, but 10 years since you all got together Linda,  will hopefully make it extra special, you really love France my friend, and I'm sure you will get there, and good to hear Nige is in a good place, as I hope you are as well.

I'm sure you meant my daughters mum Lesley, it's the start of her 4th chemo cycle this week, she has an infusion Wed and Thurs and injection Friday, at Sheffield, so Lesley and I are staying at a hotel near the hospital as the traffic and parking is awful, and she's doing well, I'm ok, a few niggles we're trying to sort out, we are off to the Lakes tomorrow, then Scotland on Sunday, and have a few more holidays lined up as well as my youngest daughter's wedding in June, and my last PSA test showed another reduction, so we are all hoping Lesleys treatment is successful, sorry for the late reply my friend, I lost a very good friend recently and it was her service today

    Love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Hi Perfect10 - just wondered how things are with you - hope whatever is happening you & your husband are coping ok.
My husband has had his radiotherapy so now it’s psa monitoring/hormones/blood tests & just getting on as best we can.

    Thinking of you.
    Love Linda xx

    • Hi Eddie - glad you’re ok.
I was thinking of your daughter Mandy - think you said she was receiving treatment also. Goodness you have lots going on with Lesley’s treatment too - not sure how I’d be coping.
Anyway - always good to hear from you - sorry about losing your friend.
Take good care - love Linda x
  • Hi Linda, my daughter had a PET scan a couple of weeks ago, which showed no sign of cancer, and her mum Lesley, is almost through her 4th cycle, with just 1 to go, anyway my friend, we are at the Lakes, Ambleside, for a few days rest, and thank you, my friend will be sorely missed, she fought all the way, another beautiful soul taken by this awful disease, my bedtime Linda, if we don't talk before your Portugal trip, I hope it goes as well as possible for everyone.

    love Eddie xx
