Scared - Mum has stage 4 cancer

Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer 2 weeks ago which has spread to lymph nodes.  Was referred to Respiratory team initially but after a biopsy been told this cancers secondary from a skin cancer Mum had removed in 2019.

So now been referred to Dermatology team. No idea how long before get an appointment with them yet. Mums 88 so not sure if any treatment will be given either.

Ended up off work with stress and anxiety.im an old child and mums my last living relative. This just seems like a bad nightmare. It seems to be a bit of info ,a delay, then another appt and a delay... trying hard to be strong but finding it hard. Mum seems bewildered. ....

  • Hi

i can empathise with how you are feeling.

This is very similar to my experience it’s very frustrating and disappointing.  Also hard to keep explaining to an elderly parent what’s happening and why there are lengthy periods of inactivity, whilst trying not to show it’s stressing you out
