Waiting game of hell

Hi Everyone

We found out my lovely mum has a brain tumour 3 days ago and my god it’s come as a shock, and by the sounds of it it’s secondary. We are such a close family, my dad normally shows no emotion is an absolute wreck.My sister and I are both pregnant - my sister due in 2 weeks me in 4 months. 

We are still waiting for the results and have been told, the doctor will see you this afternoon then discharge for 3 days and we don’t have much more news and shes still in hospital. 

Today she said she’s worried about not being here to see the babies and she doesn’t want to die.

After meeting with the doctor today, he suggested there may be a connection with her ovary and now we’ve jumped on it which probably wasn’t the best thing to do . By the sounds of it we won’t find anything out concrete until Monday and it’s mental torture. We are terrified! i am living out my nightmares

    Hello Lucy1988 and welcome to the forum, i am really sorry to hear that your mum has a brain tumour, and as i lost my mum to cancer ,can understand what a stressful, emotional and worrying time it is for you all. Everyone goes through a traumatic time with a cancer diagnosis, then with the waiting for results, a diagnosis and what treatment options are to come makes it even harder. Lucy this really is the hardest time, Once your mums doctors know exactly what cancer she has and what treatments there are, things should feel a little better, As you said it's not a good idea to go with your doctor thinks, best to wait for the facts.     I’m sorry to read about your Mum’s news.

    if you have any questions about your Mum’s condition, please don’t hesitate to call the nurse helpline or use the Ask a Nurse part of this chat room.

    I’m just another cancer patient but once they’ve taken a biopsy, they should be able to narrow down the location of the primary. Apparently different cancers have subtly different shapes under a microscope.

    Try not to despair, there are hundreds of different cancer types which all affect people in different ways and grow at different rates. Waiting for the results of tests and scans, or for a diagnosis is always frustrating and stressful.

    Hi Dave 

    Thank you I have very little understanding about this stuff I am trying not to google as it’s all a bit terrifying but i will do that thank you.

    Very wise - Dr Google is very unreliable with a lot of outdated data and frankly incorrect misinformation out there.
