Hi everyone
im caring for my brother who has incurable bladder cancer stage 4.
He had two rounds of chemo but as his health got worse (his kidneys were effected by chemo) the doctor advised they were not going to proceed with chemo and that my brother only had a few weeks left to live.
he has been home for almost 3 weeks now and has done amazing he has a lot of blood clots with a stent added and now has bags on to drain his kidneys. Since coming home his legs have stopped swelling and have completely gone down (sometimes swell but will come down within a few hours)
so his oncologist said the swelling in his legs wouldn’t come down unless chemo worked as it would reduce the tumour size but hes been on certain medication that weve tried and now swelling in his legs have massively reduced? From this I had high hope thats a miracle has happened and the medication we are given him is working!?
my questions are, how will we know its end of life?
my brother has never been sick, hes had a good appetite throughout chemo.
he sometimes loses his appetite now but will regain it after an hour or so
he eats good
he drinks water all the time (3/4 jugs a day)
hes now:
drowsy
slurring his speech
loses concentration often
sleeps more often but not for long hours of the day
pain when peeing again
