Good morning everyone
This is my first time.e posting and first ever experience dealing with cancer in the family .
I took my mum to a respiratory appointment yesterday for what we thought was a follow up after an endoscopy for something completely unrelated to be told that after one of her scans they have found a tumor in the lower part of her lung .she is 77yrs old and to say we are shocked and devastated is an understatement. The doc has arranged for her to get a biopsy.of the lymph node in her neck and a full spinal scan is this a normal procedure for diagnosis???.
He said although formal diagnosis hasn't yet.been made they are 99% sure already that this is lung cancer and the biopsy is to find out what type it is ... I think thats what they said and the spinal scan to see if its spread as they see something in her lower spine I'm a bit confused as it was a complete bombardment of information from him and the lovely oncology nurse we spoke to straight after .
She was trying to explain everything but it just didn't sink in at the time so this is where we are
Appointment , scan , biopsy do these take long to get the results and what comes next ? Any info or advise in how to help her digest all this would be very much appreciated
Thank you
