Hi There!
My husband had bowel cancer last year and went into have the tumour removed at the beginning of this year in January. The operation went very well and they managed to get all the cancer out. It has however, resorted in him having to wear a stoma bag permanently which he manages fine and has learned to live with. His recent outpatient follow up appointment have been positive but he recently had a follow up appointment with his surgeon and she took blood and took 4 or 5 samples from him and he got a letter back today to say that the chemical in possible bowel cancers had risen a wee bit in his system and they want to book him in for a scan earlier than expected. He was due a follow up scan near the end of this year. Obviously this has set him back slightly as he has been doing really well in his recovery getting his mobility back etc but he and myself and now really worried that this could be the cancer coming back. I am trying to be positive in thinking that it is something they want to catch that could potentially cause a re-occurrence. For the fact she she said `a wee bit` sounds positive but it is still a worry. Is this what it means?
