Lung cancer

My husband 57 is starting his journey again with more treatment, I've been sad now for over a year feel so anxious every minute every day, we do talk but he seems to get so upset when we told more treatment is needed cos it's slowly grown, he can't seem to understand it's not going away we both desperately sad most days can't seem to forget about it for one minute

  • I'm sorry to hear your husband needs more treatment Jacqueline. It must have been very tough to hear this but it's good you're keeping the channels of communication open and talking to each other about how you're both feeling, despite how difficult this may be.

I'm not sure if you've done this already but talking with family and friends can help but if that isn't an option or you would prefer to speak with someone else, then you and/or your husband may benefit from counselling as it may help you both come to terms with your husband's diagnosis. If you'd like to find out more then do have a look at the counselling section of the CRUK website.

Our members are here for you as well so you are not alone and I hope the support and advice you receive from our community will help you through the next stage of your husband's cancer journey.

I hope this helps and that your husband's next course of treatment will be successful.

    Kind regards,

  • I'm becoming really anxious and worried about my husband he's on new treatment Immuno therapy and chemotherapy again but this time he literally sleeps all day and night, seems to have no energy at all, wondering if this is normal, he has this every 3 weeks next one next Wednesday. I would be grateful I if someone can help me understand

  • Hello JacquelineS1163, I fully understand your upset and pain as I've been through the same treatment with my husband.  He would just be getting back on his feet and then it was treatment time again.  You should have a McMillan nurse so call them and speak about what you have said. It sounds like he must be later stage lung cancer and this will have an adverse effect on him.  The nurses are there for you and they will talk you through the way he is reacting to the immunotherapy.  Use the resources that are available and they can guide you properly as you need the right advice.  My thoughts are with you, Carol x
