Painful areas

Hi

I have a lump removed and two lymph nodes on 19/8/21 (just over three weeks ago). I've have fluid and an infection in the breast but being treated with antibiotics. Wound is healing really well and I can do the exercises without pain.

ive had a pain in my upper arm (soft under belly of arm) that is quite sharp tugging pain when I raise my arm and in my back (rib area on the outer edge) feels like a big bruise when I touch it or lie on it. Is that normal??

thanks

  • Hi, I'm wondering if your experiencing cording? I got this pulling tender sensation every time I did my exercises after my lumpectomy....sometimes it made me feel a bit queasy.....but the exercises eventually worked and I was able to get full movement with no odd sensations....

    good luck x

  • Hello HoneybBee2466 and thanks for posting,

It is still quite early on as healing can be delayed with an infection, so this tugging pain could easily be something to be expected, but I can't be sure and  I think it would be a good idea to run it past your breast care nurse and get their input.

I also wondered if it could be the start of something called cording which you can read about on our website at this link, but this might have nothing to do with it.  See how it goes with the exercises,  but do get some advice from your breast care nurse.

I hope this pain settles soon and that the rest of your recovery goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,

    Julia

  • Thank you, I think it could be. Will keep doing exercises
