Thyroid (I think) lump

I've got a few lumpy parts on what I think is my thyroid, one is pretty solid and the others are softer.

im going to the doctor on Monday but I'm really scared. I've got health anxiety anyway and I'm only 20 so I'm trying to reassure myself. It's not massive and can't be seen from the outside.

it's right on the front as if it's part of the cartilage but I think it's on my thyroid.

I also may have an under active thyroid so it could be a goitre.

how can I stay calm/reassure myself?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry you are worried about your health and this lump you can feel.

Unfortunately this forum is unable to diagnose or say what the matter might be so it is good you have already arranged an appointment with your GP. They are in the best position to assess and examine the lump and arrange further tests is needed.

Easier said than done but try not to over think things if you can. Lumps and bumps can be the result of many things and rarely are the result of something as serious as a cancer and even more less likely at your young age.

Avoid if you can searching for answers on the internet as this often leads people to worry even more. Anxiety UK here and Young minds here offer support and tips on how to manage anxiety that may be helpful to you whilst you wait to be seen.

I hope your appointment goes well and you find out soon what this might be.

    Take care

    Naomi
