Choosing a PICC line or central port for my chemotherapy

Hello. In twelve days I am due to start chemotherapy for stage IV colon cancer that has metastasised to the liver. I have previously had two liver resections and chemo.

Due to the development of six further liver tumours in the last three months I am due to have a PICC line inserted for the latest chemo - FOLFIRI Encorafenib Cetuximab in combination (BREAKWATER  Study).  I found the PICC line used in my last treatment  was extremely difficult to manage and with the additional side effect of neuropathy it had to be removed a month before chemo was completed.  As my new treatment is for an indefinite period I am now wondering if I should have a central port as it should make daily life easier although it  also has risks and complications as does the PICC line. The central port also has to be implanted and I understand it cannot be removed at an NHS hospital.

I would really appreciate any thoughts that might assist me in making this difficult but crucial decision. Thank you. Ginni
