I am sorry to hear about your mum and the other family members who have been impacted by breast cancer. Finding out you carry the check2 gene mutation fault increasing your risk must be a worry.

When it comes down to a persons risk of cancer there are so many different factors to be taken into account. It is usually a good idea to talk through your cancer risk and how the HRT you are taking may affect your risk further with your GP.

Unfortunately there isn't a one size fits all answer to this question. There are situations where people can continue with the HRT they on, others will be advised to stop. There are also times when alternative treatment will be advised to manage any perimenopausal symptoms that someone is experiencing.

Having a risk or increased risk of any cancer doesn't automatically mean someone will go on to get it. However if things can be done to minimise risk this is important alongside going for any necessary cancer screenings or early screenings if eligible. Some people with known gene faults will be invited to attend screenings at an earlier age and sometimes with a different test or scan. If you haven't already be spoken to about this do also discuss with your doctor.
