I am not sure why you were turned away from having your smear because of your recent ultrasound. I think that this is something that you would have to ask your GP or practice nurse. They are the best people to answer this query as they are involved in your care. Normally it would be fine to have a smear test after a vaginal ultrasound but there may be a reason why they wanted to delay this. I know that if you send a smear off before you are due to have this test they will refuse to test it, but I am not sure why they would refuse to do a smear test after a vaginal ultrasound.

It will make very little difference having your smear in a month or so.

I also had this recently. It's incredibly annoying when you have to arrange it around work/available childcare/irregular cycle. I've ordered a private HPV test while I wait for another opportunity to book in for a proper smear. 

Exactly this!!! Glad im not the only one. These are the exact obstacles im facing too. Can I ask how and where you booked the hpv test please?
