  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time at the moment.

Cancer treatments can cause nausea, taste changes, diarrhoea/colitis, making drinking feel difficult. It’s important to try and keep some fluids going in, even if it's not water.

Try drinking small sips often rather than attempting a whole drink at once. If water tastes unpleasant, you could try taking it with weak squash/cordial, well-diluted apple or pear juice, Ice lollies, ice chips can sometimes help Using a straw or having drinks very cold sometimes helps with the strange taste you are experiencing.

As you have colitis and reduced fluid intake, it's important to let your treatment team know how you're feeling. If nausea medicines aren't helping, they may be able to change them. There are a number of different anti sickness medications that can help with nausea but sometimes it’s trial and error to get the right combination that will work. We do have some tips on our website about managing nausea which you might find helpful. We also have some useful tips on managing diet problems that may be useful
