Hormone side effects

I seem to be suffering most of the side effects from Hormone Injection and I am now really depressed and fed up .

I have had 4 PROSTAP 11.25 injections and I am thinking of not having any more, What effect will that have on me.

My meeting with a consultant has been reduced to a phone call and I have not been informed in writing about my

last blood test last March which he said was undeterminable whatever that means

  • Hi there oldknee and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about how the hormone therapy is affecting you with your every day life, it does sound like it really is getting you down.

Do speak with your doctor or specialist nurse ( if you have a contact number for one) and let them know how this is making you feel. Sometimes they can switch to a different type that may agree better with you but there are other ways in which they can help you better manage these side effects.

The CRUK website has a section of information about living with the effects of hormone therapy for prostate cancer that may be helpful to read.

There are occasions when people struggle to continue with a particular treatment. However it is important to speak with your own doctor about this to ask if there are alternative treatments available. They are also in the best position to tell you what stopping treatment will mean for you.

You can request if it is possible to have a face to face appointment rather than a telephone call if you think this would be better for you. I am sure at the appointment the doctor will discuss your recent test results and what these mean.

Do get back if you have more questions or if you prefer give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we're here weekdays 9-5.

I hope things improve for you soon,

    Take care

    Naomi
