Hello Kerrie H26 and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear that you are struggling to sleep. We would always suggest that you talk to your oncology team about taking any medication including complimentary tablets such as melatonin gummies in case there are any interactions with the chemotherapy drugs.
I would talk to your team about your sleeping difficulties and see what they suggest. If you are taking any steroid drugs they may decide to reduce the dose or offer advice about taking it earlier in the day.
We have a page on our website about cancer treatment and the safety of complimentary therapies and cancer and sleeping difficulties.
Trying to get as much fresh air as possible so you are physically tired can help and if you can, having a break from your computer or phone for a couple of hours before bedtime can help. Regular yoga can also help.
Maggies offer relaxation and breathing classes. If there isn't a Maggies near you then you may be able to do some of these classes online.
I do hope that things improve for you as time goes on.
Give the nurses a ring on the helpline if you would like to talk things through. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
All the best,
Catherine
Hi Kerrie
Ask for advice at the cancer clinic. There are other ways to help cope with insomnia. Get as much excercise as you can, eat healthy diet, no caffeine after lunchtime or go decaffeinated. Dont drink alcohol late in day. Have a regular bedtime and getting up time. Hope this helps, it does ( a bit) for me.
