Breast lump - been told it's nothing to worry about but it's still there and hasn't gone away. Should I get it checked again?

I found something that felt like a lump in my breast last year, I went to my GP and they referred me to a breast clinic. I went to the appointment and the nurse examined my breasts and said she could feel the lump but compared it to the other breast and said there was another lump in the other breast and it was breast tissue. She never sent me for a mammogram or any other testing. She said it was nothing to worry about just breast tissue. However it’s still there and hasn’t gone but I’m paranoid that it’s not normal to still be there if it’s breast tissue and I’m not sure whether to go back to double check everything is ok. I had a baby a year ago and it seems by body has been all over the place since having a baby.

  • I get you on this.  The breast care nurses can do examinations to find lumps and bumps but they haven’t got x- ray eyes and you should now push for an ultrasound.  I’ve been there myself and I’ve had breast cancer, four years ago now.  They know I’m anxious and I’ve been in several times to get lumps checked.  I’m usually denied any further investigations even with my history which I think is crazy.  It’s times like this that we must advocate for ourselves and insist to be re checked.
