Breast lump - been told it's nothing to worry about but it's still there and hasn't gone away. Should I get it checked again?

I found something that felt like a lump in my breast last year, I went to my GP and they referred me to a breast clinic. I went to the appointment and the nurse examined my breasts and said she could feel the lump but compared it to the other breast and said there was another lump in the other breast and it was breast tissue. She never sent me for a mammogram or any other testing. She said it was nothing to worry about just breast tissue. However it’s still there and hasn’t gone but I’m paranoid that it’s not normal to still be there if it’s breast tissue and I’m not sure whether to go back to double check everything is ok. I had a baby a year ago and it seems by body has been all over the place since having a baby.

  • Hello annalise 1999 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are worried about your breast. I would try not to worry too much. It does sound like you have been checked by your GP and the breast clinic and they were not too worried.

It is common for your breasts to change in shape and size after pregnancy and this may be what you are feeling however for your own reassurance do go back to the GP or another GP in the practice so hopefully they will be able to reassure you.

Remember it does take time for your body to settle down after a pregnancy.

I do hope that this has helped reassure you.

    Take care,

    Catherine

  • Definitely push to be checked
