Hello and thank you for posting.
This is rare, but in some cases, lobular breast cancer is only found in the lymph nodes.
These types of cancer cells behave differently to other breast cancer cells in how they present on scan. They can move from the original site in the breast and sometimes do not leave much evidence behind.
Please do talk further to your own hospital team to understand your own situation better but, if helpful there are the charities Lobular Breast Cancer UK and Breast Cancer Now.
Take care and if you want to talk anything through with the nurses then do call 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.
Sarah.
Hi Sarah
Thank you for your reply.
I feel very confused as my first diagnosis was secondary cancer from a previous episode in the other breast. I was then diagnosed with lobular breast cancer which has now changed to axillary cancer as there is no evidence in the breast.
I am now booked to have a complete node clearance. I’m concerned now that this is as previously mentioned secondary breast cancer or can lobular be diagnosed from lymph glands?
Hi JudieG. That does sound very confusing. I had lobular breast cancer in 2012/13. In 2024 had back and hip pain. Went for MRI and they found lots of tumors in spine, pelvis etc. They did all the tests and found no sign of lobular cancer in breast. But I have been diagnosed with secondary lobular breast cancer with bone mets. I had to have a bone biopsy for them to find out. I think it is all very confusing. Did you have a biopsy on your lymph glands?
