I'm being moved onto Hydroxycarbamide - is anyone else on this?

Hi,

I have been on monthly venesection for my PV & yesterday had my 6 monthly call with my haematologist.

She has told me she would like me to move onto hydroxycarbamide. Then stop the venesections.

Is anyone else on this? Any issues or is it all good. As always I'm a bit worried.

Hi Pete,

My mum was on this for many years, and she had no side effects from it. I seem to rrmember she started on it and gradually increasing the dose or adjusting it due to results of blood tests.

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better I start taking it on Monday. You are right gradually with blood tests to check and increase / decrease amounts as required
