I was diagnosed before Christmas with Barrett’s oesophagus and was put on Pantoprazole. I had never had any acid sensation so this was a surprise though I know understand there are a number of symptoms which I did have!

I’ve just had a letter saying that the biopsies show changes to cells which warrant further attention. My symptoms have increased since Christmas and the last week or so I’ve been struggling to swallow and I can taste the acid all the time despite the medication.  I’ve started to take gaviscon at bedtime now too. I’m very concerned and am booked in to see my GP first thing Monday morning but I don’t know how long it will take for the referral to the upper GI specialist team.
