  • Hello DMDmum50, and thank you for posting,

I am very sorry to hear that your dad has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer of the liver. This must be a very difficult and worrying time for you and your family, and it’s understandable to have many questions and concerns.

As we are not directly involved in your dad’s care, we are unable to say how quickly he may deteriorate, as this can vary greatly from person to person. The team looking after your dad, who has full knowledge of his individual situation, are best placed to give you more of an idea of what to expect.

With your dad’s permission, it may be helpful to speak with his specialist nurse (CNS), if he has one. Alternatively, if possible, you might find it helpful to be with your dad when he sees the consultant on the 17th, so you can both ask questions and hear the information.

I am sorry that I cannot give you more specific guidance at this time. You are very welcome to contact us again if you have any further questions, or if you would simply like to talk things through with one of our nurses. Our helpline is available Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, on 0808 800 4040.

    Kind regards,

    Jemma
