  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I am sorry that you are going through this and I hope you have support whilst waiting for more information.

Waiting for tests and scan results can be difficult. Trying to keep yourself busy and your mind as distracted as possible is the only way to help each day pass.

It is more unusual to get a stage 4, terminal prognosis on diagnosis, if there is cancer the doctors will be coming up with a plan that they feel is appropriate for you to give the best outcomes. It is also important to remember that other things can occur in the body that although have very similar symptoms are benign (non cancer) or are a more a pre cancer condition.

As and when you get more news, and if it is a cancer diagnosis, do let us know and if you want to call the the nurse helpline then ring 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Take care,

    Sarah.

  • thank you Sarah my thoughts are all over the place at the minute expecting the worse your words have calmed me a little bit,

what questions should i be asking at my appointment i should write them down

  • Hi Flaht and thank you for getting back to us.

It’s a good idea to write down your questions before your appointment. You might want to ask things like:

    What does my diagnosis mean?

What treatment do you recommend and why?

    What are the side effects?

How will this affect my daily life?

Who can I contact if I have more questions later?

There is more information on talking to healthcare professionals on Maggies and The NHS website which you may find helpful.

Also take a notepad to your appointment ready so you can write information down.

I hope this information is helpful and your appointment proceeds smoothly.

    Kind regards

    Tina
