I am sorry that you are going through this and I hope you have support whilst waiting for more information.

Waiting for tests and scan results can be difficult. Trying to keep yourself busy and your mind as distracted as possible is the only way to help each day pass.

It is more unusual to get a stage 4, terminal prognosis on diagnosis, if there is cancer the doctors will be coming up with a plan that they feel is appropriate for you to give the best outcomes. It is also important to remember that other things can occur in the body that although have very similar symptoms are benign (non cancer) or are a more a pre cancer condition.

It’s a good idea to write down your questions before your appointment. You might want to ask things like:

What does my diagnosis mean?

What treatment do you recommend and why?

What are the side effects?

How will this affect my daily life?

Who can I contact if I have more questions later?

Also take a notepad to your appointment ready so you can write information down.
