Worried sick

Hi

So I have a 7cm ovarian cyst, they think it is caused by tubo ovarian sepsis from endometriosis, my ca125 level was 282 around 6 weeks ago, I had a fever, crp, wbc and neutrophils were all raised. My case went to an MDT meeting at start of oct, they have since written to me stating that after looking at my CT scan they say their are 'no clear features of malignancy'. This has been 6 weeks of sheer utter hell inside my own head, worrying, googling, trying to find answers. I have hardly ate or slept in 6 weeks. I had my ca125 level redone today. Im really really scared.

  • Hi Cazza84 and thank you for your post.

I’m really sorry to hear how difficult the last few weeks have been for you. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot, and I can completely understand why you’ve been feeling so scared and overwhelmed.

A 7cm ovarian cyst can sound worrying, but it’s reassuring that the team didn’t see any clear signs of cancer on your scan. Your CA125 level was raised, but that can happen with infections and endometriosis too; not just cancer. You’ve done the right thing by having it checked again, and I hope the new results bring you some peace of mind.

Waiting is never easy, especially when you’re feeling anxious.

Anxiety UK has a good website with helpful tips on how to deal with anxiety in these situations.
